Hagar has developed into an organization that applies a multi-beneficiary, multi-staged approach to its work. It uses a three-pronged strategy:.
Rehabilitation
• Hagar Shelter helps vulnerable women and their children transform their lives so that they can return to the community as independent and productive individuals.
• Foster Homes provide a new, loving family home for abused children of all backgrounds
• The “House of Smile” is home to children with disabilities
Reintegration
• Hagar Design produces women’s accessories and home furnishings of fine hand woven silk for export and tourist markets
• Hagar Soya produces and markets a nutritious Soya milk
• Hagar Catering services garment and other factories with healthy nutritious food.
• Hagar’s agricultural communities provide new settlements for formerly landless mothers and their children.
Prevention
• Hagar constructs schools, trains teachers, provides basic supplies and supplements income of public teachers in order to ensure primary and secondary education in rural areas.
• It carries out health education in combination with the installation of water filters.
• Hagar is initiating a school feeding program as well as the community learning centre.
